5Impressive  Jun 02, 2009
By Kimberly Pemrich "Pet Lover"
This is an excelent crate and you can't beat the price! This same stlye crate sells for $180.00 at my local agway. Excellent quality, easy assembly pops right up. Just slip clips over and under on front. Folds up suitcase style for travel or storage. Came with a divider that wasn't mentioned in description. Nice bonus. Ample room for my 2 dogs. Even with divider in place. LOVE the top door! can put in toys or food and water with out them trying to get out. I am looking forward to many years of use!

5Convenient Kennel  Jun 29, 2009
By SC Cook
We are very pleased with this kennel - it has 3 openings - on the top, the narrow side and long side. We use the door on the long side because it feels more expansive. The bottom tray is metal rather than plastic - so if you have a pet that is not yet trained, I'd suggest putting a puppy pad down so the tray doesn't rust. The kennel is not real heavy like some we looked at and that's a plus since this kennel folds up for easy transport and storage.

5great crate- can't get a better price  Sep 10, 2009
By D. Bright
This crate usually goes for over $100 at any pet store- you can't find a 3-door crate with removable bottom for cheaper than this and it's such a great quality! Complete with a divider for puppies to grow into their crates- easily taken down and carried around for travel (about 30-40lbs to carry)

1Dissapointing. You get what you pay for.  Jan 21, 2012
By Bill-NM
We have crates from various makers (Precision, Life Stages), needed 2 more, and bought two of the "Best Pet" for the low price. After all, we thought, how much difference, really, can there be between crates of the same basic design, within a few dollars of each other?

Turns out a lot:

1) The crate is packaged on the skimpy side. One of ours arrived slightly damaged/bent. It's the kind of damage that you think to yourself...do I really wanna go thru the hassle of packing it back up, going thru the whole return process (as easy as Amazon makes it ), for THIS amount of damage? So we decided to keep it. Perhaps a crate that costs $10 more would have been packaged more carefully in a sturdier box? The Best Pet crate would have got four stars if this was the only problem.

2) The gauge of the metal is somewhat thinner than other makes...it makes the crate lighter, but also flimsier (and contributed to the damage in #1 above). For something that will probably be in the family for years and years, getting fairly tough use day in and day out, that bit of flimsiness might be trouble. The Best Pet crate would have got three stars if this and #1 were the only problems.

3) This is the item that REALLY disappoints us...the latches are quite hard to use. The latch of course is the part of the crate that a person will lay their hands on and operate over and over and over again...if the latch is of low quality, (and these ARE of low quality), that low quality is going to really make itself known. These latches stick and bind and have to be very carefully "threaded" thru the receiving end of the latch to close...a person needs to move the door up and down and back and forth repeatedly to get the latch to line up and work. And the latches are just as hard to open...and since there are TWO latches on each door, that's twice the trouble! It's the latches that make this oh, barely a TWO star crate...coupled with #1 and #2 above, it's a ONE STAR crate.

On another note, the other thing we should have thought of, is to get crates with the same KIND of latch as the crates we already own...when letting the dogs out in the morning or whatever, it's nice to be able to just walk quickly by the crates, flipping them open. Now we have to stop, figure out which crate we are looking at, and then start working with the latch...which in this case, is a real bother (the other thing is these doors open right to left...all our other crates open from left to right).

If you are going to use your crate every day, do yourself a favor and spend the extra $10 or whatever on a better crate...you will be VERY glad you did...we learned our lesson. On the other hand, if you are just going to use this crate a couple times per week or less, the the low price might be worth it.

Again to be fair, these crates are the cheapest of this design...so, well, we got what we paid for...in that light maybe they are a 2 star item for value.

Note to the manufacturer...certain parts of a given item simply HAVE to be designed and built to a certain standard...a standard which makes the product usable and reliable, if it is not built to that standard, why even bother marketing the product in the first place? In this case, the latches are clearly substandard and difficult to use, making the product not only worthless, but a real hassle to own.

5Great crate! Sturdy!  Aug 17, 2011
By A. Young
This is really a great product. It is very sturdy considering how lightweight/portable it is. The size is perfect for my 60 lb dog, he can move around, lay down, stand up, roll over, whatever he needs. His crate is his den where he sleeps, hangs out and takes all his meals. The multiple doors are handy and the easy collapse/put together make it great for camping or visiting friends/family overnight. Price absolutely cannot be beat, even considering high shipping cost.

Note 1: If you are housebreaking a similarly sized dog you may want to go down a size. My boy could, were he not housetrained, go potty in one corner and easily move to the other side to avoid his "mess". However if your dog is already housetrained and you use the crate for transport/travel/hang-out time, this is a great size for a medium sized dog.

Note 2: If your dog thrashes around in his crate or tries to chew through the wires, he is not crate trained. Slow-down and take them time to help him adjust to the crate. The U.S. Humane Society has an excellent article on crate training here: [...] About halfway down it explains "A crate isn't a magical solution. If not used correctly, a dog can feel trapped and frustrated." Be judicious in how you use the crate dog owners.
